This is a mentoring program for at risk youth, that pairs youth with adult mentors in order to assist the youth in becoming productive citizens. Mentors meet with youth one on one guiding them in the right direction
The Youth Serve program focuses primarily on youth who are of middle and early high school age. This age group is particularly problematic and a perfect time for mentoring to be effective. At-risk young people have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they are successful in putting their lives together. Youth Serve is here to restore that hope.

About the event
Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. To prevent suicide, we need to understand it first.
Funds raised at the Out of the Darkness Charleston WV Walk directly support research, advocacy efforts, and educational programs in schools, workplaces, and communities across WV. --WALK FOR OUR TEAM AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THIS GREAT CAUSE!
The Walks are an opportunity to find a supportive community of people who get it, to know you're not alone, and to make a difference together.
Walks are between 1 to 3 miles and non-competitive. The route and additional information specific to the Charleston WV Walk will be added closer to Walk day. Program includes an opening ceremony, activities of hope and healing, resource tables, and complimentary honor beads for every participant.
